"Preparing the Next Generation for Leadership" (Burnaby BC)
When: 17 March, 2012
Speaker: Ken Moser, Professor of Youth Ministry at Briercrest College & Seminary

Rumour has it that young adults are leaving the church in droves. This charge is only partially true. Some churches are, in fact, losing many, if not all, youth, while other churches seem to be full of this age-group. What can and should be done to ensure the continuance and, indeed, the growth of our congregations into the 21st century and beyond?

This Koinos seminar will attempt to answer this question.

Registration: Online at http://bcmb.org/ under “Events”
Venue: Burnaby Pacific Grace Church (3883, Triumph Street, Burnaby, B.C.)
Time: 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Cost: $30 per seminar (includes lunch and seminar notes)
For further information, please email: mbccacentre@gmail.com

The goal of the KOINOS Certificate in Christian Foundations is to make the essential tools of serious biblical and theological study available to busy adults.

Regent College Youth Ministry Audio lectures:

Many churches struggle trying to develop a youth ministry that is effective in the long term. Statistics seem to indicate that many churches have trouble attracting and then keeping young people in the church.

In this course we think strategically and biblically about youth ministry today. We examine various models of youth ministry; their strengths and weaknesses. We examine what the Bible says about ministry and how we can form a youth program that is both effective and able to work in today’s culture. The emphasis on this course is to develop a youth program in the church that produces disciples FOR THE LONG TERM and reaches out to the lost.

Teaching the Bible is like teaching yer kids to go huntin’!

Sometimes it is hard work to get young people to participate in family devotions and/or youth Bible study. Questions are met with unintelligible grunts or blank looks. However, maybe we have been going about it the wrong way.

Just showing up vs. godliness in action

What happens when you place godly expectations on your young people? People respond differently and it is not always popular but the results can be amazing.

Thoughts on Discipleship Part 1: Don’t hang with kids, equip them to follow.

Making disciples is a command from Jesus. We all tend to agree that it is important but we seemed to have dropped the ball when it comes to helping converts actually follow the one they have been converted to. Here is some wisdom gleaned from the book by BIll Hull: The Complete Book of Discipleship.
